1957 was the first year dual headlamps began to appear on a few American cars, and by 1958 they were all the rage. Auto designers experimented with headlamp placement for several years - some cars such as the 1958-60 Lincoln and Continenta had canted headlamps. Olds designers experimented with some pretty wild schemes before settling on the production headlamps you see here. The parking light/turn signal lamp is placed between the high/low beam headlamps.
The headlamp bulbs on my Olds are the factory original "Guide" brand units.
The chromed blades atop the bumper protect the lamps from collision damage.
